Greater Northwest Emergency Medical Services is one of eight regional EMS planning agencies statewide. It is designated as the lead regional EMS program for the 12 county area of Northwestern Minnesota by the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB). Established in 1999 as a non-profit organization, its appointed program responsibilities are facilitated under federal EMS guidelines. Greater Northwest EMS serves over 100 departments including First Responder organizations, ambulance services, hospitals, EMS support agencies and individuals region-wide. Greater Northwest EMS is funded through Federal appropriations and private grants.
Geographic Area
Greater Northwest EMS is responsible for the 12 county region of Northwestern Minnesota which consists of approximately 14,703 square miles and encompasses the counties of Beltrami, Polk, Lake of the Woods, Red Lake, Pennington, Marshall, Kittson, Mahnomen, Clearwater, Hubbard, Roseau and Norman.
